BANNED VIDEO GAME

Buddy was a gamer. He lived and breathed video games, and his room was filled with every console and game imaginable. But there was one game that eluded him – the globally banned Japanese PlayStation 5 game, ‘Wormhole.’ It was said to be unbeaten, with only 10 copies in existence.

One day, while rummaging through an old thrift store in New York City, Buddy stumbled upon a copy of ‘Wormhole.’ He couldn’t believe his luck. He rushed home and started up the game.

As he played, Buddy became more and more engrossed in the game. He was determined to beat it, to be the first person to ever do so. But as he reached the second to last boss, something strange happened. The screen went black.

Buddy lost control and flew into a rage. He stared at the screen, willing it to come back to life. And then he saw something small on the screen and heard a faint sound. Suddenly, he was transported into the game.

At first, Buddy was thrilled. He was living his dream – he was inside a video game! But as he started to explore this new world, he realized something terrifying. This is why the game was unbeaten – anyone who got close to finishing it was transported into it.

Buddy believed that if he could beat the final boss, he would be released from the game. But as he fought, he died over and over again. He was revived at the checkpoint each time, but he was powerless against the final boss.

After dying over 100 times, Buddy gave up. He decided to explore the game instead, hoping to find other trapped players so they could unite and beat the final boss together.

But as he traversed the game world, Buddy realized that he was alone. He searched endlessly for other players but found none. And so he wandered, trapped in a never-ending loop of hopelessness and despair.
